Known as the “Pole of Cold”, the Russian town of Oymyakon has received recorded temperatues of -71°C, or -95.8°F. Surprisingly there are some people who actually still live here!
Hundreds of people were injured because of this celestial event that hit central Russia this morning, most them suffering from minor injuries due to windows breaking and flying around.

When snow melted and flash froze down a mountain somewhere in Russia, a photographer captured this impressive natural phenomenon.

Former hunter and biologist Valentin Pazhetnov organized a Rescue and Rehabilitation Center for bear cubs in the village of Bubonitsy, Russia. The center shelters the cubs whose parents were killed by hunters during the hibernation and who could otherwise freeze or starve to death. As soon as little bears grow up enough they are returned to their natural environment.
