The Woodstock Festival took place in an dairy farm in New York state and was scheduled over three days but ran over four days in August of 1969. It attracted over 400,000 people and such music legends as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who and others played there through the rain or sun. And the atmosphere there was really special. Happily, these photos were taken by two LIFE photographers Bill Eppridge and John Dominis who were present at the Woodstock music festival to capture the essence of the 60s and what was going on there.

Polish Woodstock is actually a response to the Woodstock festival that took place in 1969. Its motto is “Love, Friendship and Music.” But the Polish festival is a charity program made to raise funds for the for children's health.
Thanks to our visitor Dedham who sent us the links for the article.

Woodstock was a music festival, held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre (2.4 km²; 240 ha) dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969. Bethel (Sullivan County) is 43 miles (69 km) southwest of the village of Woodstock, New York, in adjoining Ulster County.
The festival exemplified the counterculture of the late 1960s – early 1970s and the "hippie era". Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend in front of nearly half a million concertgoers. There were such singer, musicians and groups like The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin, Joan Baez, Jimmy Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Ravi Shankar, Carlos Santana and others. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.
