NASA has recently shared these stunning pictures of astronaut Scott Kelly who spent almost a year in space. He beat the previous record for time spent at the International Space Station by a U.S. astronaut on October 16, 2015. His photos are simply breathtaking and worth looking at. Enjoy!

“Red sprites” are a phenomenon that occur when lightning creates an electromagnetic discharge. This rare sighting was photographed by an astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS) recently and it is amazing to see.

Dutch astronaut and physician Andre Kuipers, who’s currently working at the International Space station, took these marvelous pictures with his SLR. Good photographic skills and perfect vantage point enabled the man to make the images so stunning that some of them seem absolutely unreal.

We already posted beautiful photos taken by Colonel Douglas H. Wheelock which appeared on his Twitter account. It seems that other astronauts follow his example. Here’s another set of pictures made this time by astronaut Paolo Nespoli while he was aboard the space station. The photo was taken approximately 1,000 km northeast of the Solomon Islands.

These are some amazing photos from space. They were uploaded by Colonel Douglas H. on his Twitter account. They were taken while he was on the International space station. They are some really incredible photos.

This is must be the most known picture in the Internet and in the whole world. But it so great that it will never get old hence my choice to post it.

Some history just in case. The pictures depict American astronaut Bruce McCandless II who became the first to make an untethered spacewalk thanks to nitrogen jet propelled backpack called the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) in 1984.

At about 100 meters from the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger, Bruce McCandless II was further out than anyone had ever been before "free-flying" to a distance of 320 feet away from the Orbiter.

MMUs are no longer used due to security problems, but astronauts now wear a similar backpack device in case of emergency.
