La Dimora di Metello is an amazingly beautiful hotel located in the caves of Matera, in southern Italy. It has become popular among people who like unique and usual places to stay in.
Liang Zifu, 81 and his wife Li Suying, 77, have been living in a cave for 54 years and have raised four kids there. The cave is situated near Nanchong city in Sichuan province, China.
This cave is 32 kilometers long and its depth is 1760 m. These pictures show the harsh conditions of exploring the fascinating underworld.
Zhongdong Miao Village is situated in the mountains of Anshun in the Guizhou province of southwest China. The village is situated inside the cave at 1800 meters (almost 6000 ft) above sea level and has about 100 dwellers. The villagers built roofless houses, schools and a basketball court there. It is warm in winter, cool in summer and dry all year long. The community used to have a high school as well, but the Chinese government closed the school in early 2011. Now, the closest school is a two-hour walk there and back.
Angelo Mastropetro was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which prompted him to finally build the home of his dreams. He spent 8 months and over $150,000 transforming an 800 year old cave into his ideal home and it is quite spectacular.
Uli Emanuele performed this epic mountain jump in a wingsuit and sailed effortlessly through a 2 meter cave opening without missing a beat. He caught the entire flight on his GoPro camera and the footage is awesome.
The Domus Civita is a house located on the top of the Etruscan tombs and caves in Italy. Originally built in XIV century, the owners have attempted to preserve all the natural beams, stone walls and floors while transforming this natural cave into a comfortable living space. The house has been fully restored, maintaining all historical value, and now boasts a heated pool and wine cellar.
The cave near Beijing that once served as a bunker for Chinese military leader has been turned into a bar. Through the entrance made in the form of the airplane the visitors get into a cold cave with old propaganda posters, maps and military ordnance.
