Arvind Mahankali just won the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee. I’ve never seen someone that happy to win a competition.
These brilliant images were chosen as the finalists out of more than 37,600 photos received.
FEI, a company that manufactures microscopes, regularly holds a macro photo contest in which entrants must submit pictures of things that cannot be seen without magnification. Here is a selection of a few of the entries into the competition for 2012.

The results of the 6th Annual Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year contest have been announced recently. About 600 photographs had been submitted for the contest and here are the pictures that received the most points in the community voting.

The one hosted recently was in Venezuela. These guys spend hours, days, and money to create a perfect Barbie that might win the title.
These photos are from National Geographic’s Photograph Contest 2010. The images are in three different categories including nature, places, and people. It took eight weeks for the judges to select these winners.
The new beauty queen of Italy is a chubby woman who weights in at 170 kilograms (375 pounds) at the age of 33. Her name is Angela Scognamiglio. Being “Miss Chubby” feels “very moved”, Angela assures. This unusual beauty contest was held in the village of Forcoli, near Pisa.
We posted already 20 ugliest dogs ever who had also participated in this contest and some of them here were the winners. The photos in this post are from the 22nd annual World's Ugliest Dog contest that took place in Petaluma, California this year. This year a 4-year-old Chihuahua mix Princess Abby Francis won the contest.
There are some amazing digital photos. With the technology that is available today they are so detailed even the ones that are Photoshopped appear to be real. They were taken by different photographers for the 2010 Digital Photographer of the Year Contest.
