The Celebrity Eclipse weighs 122,000 tons and measures 1,040 feet in length. So when the ship was forced to squeeze through the lock as she left the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenberg, Germany, on her maiden voyage it was rather undignified. The 121-foot wide ocean liner had as little as two feet on either side of her as she eased through.
