Looks like that rope was tied around it for a long time, as it was covered in small crustaceans and plankton. It must have been very painful, to force such a giant beast to approach divers in search of help.

In Australia, this baby humpback whale was found stranded on a beach. Soon after, it was returned to the ocean. It took several people and a lot of effort but it was all worth it.
As the photo in this post shows sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

The photographer Bryant Austin is the first photographer to make life-sized high-resolution images of whales.
He takes hundreds of high-resolution pictures of a whale and then put piece to piece together to create a life-sized image. His largest photo to date is 6 feet by 28 feet. It took him 2800 hours to complete it.

These shocking photos were taken by tourists during their New Zealand nature cruise. A killer whale (orca) attacked an exhausted dolphin. Experts assure that a sighting of orcas hunting dolphins was “almost unheard of”.

The guy in these photos is sure going to have a whale of a story to tell his grandkids. Imagine getting the opportunity to swim with whales. They are truly majestic mammals. Apparently, judging from these photos, they are also very friendly. The beauty of the ocean must have only added to his enjoyment.
