Once known to be the prides of the sea, these ships are now abandoned and forgotten by most of us because of uncontrolled circumstances such as lack of manpower and poor maintenance. Canada had its biggest train wreck in June, 1864.  While Americans were fighting in the Civil War and the Underground Railroad helped thousands of slaves escape to freedom, the Canadians lost a portion of its immigrant population in the biggest train wreck of its history.
