So asking google questions actually does work in many cases. It especially helps in finding message board posts where other people have asked the same question.

yep- asking definitely helps. basically, anything you type which can put you in touch with people who've been there before you is gold. google is a lot more powerful that way than search engines used to be not so long ago.
