John Unger used to cradle his 19-year-old dog Schoep in a lake so the buoyancy would relieve the dog's arthritic pain. The heartbreaking picture inspired so many donations from all over the world that not only did Schoep receive top-notch care to make the rest of his life as comfortable as possible, but John was even able to start a foundation to help other dogs in need.
