The first Tacoma Narrows Bridge is literally a textbook example of how not to design a bridge, helping hundreds of architects of the future to not make the same mistake. Because of 42 mile-per-hour winds and a design that didn’t allow for very good airflow, the bridge wobbled and went down for the count.
