The Battle of Algiers (1966)

This Italian-Algerian faux-documentary about the Algerian War in the late 50’s and early 60’s was a commentary on the activities of the French Government in the North African country of Algeria. Listed as one of the top 500 greatest movies of all times on multiple lists today, it was banned in France for over 5 years due to it’s pro-Algerian message and depiction of guerrilla warfare.
