Many girls in India get married when they are still kids. Children marriages are banned in this country, but they still happen. Government survey in 2006 reported that 45 % of Indian girls were married being younger than 18 years old. Local police raids child marriage ceremonies when it gets a chance because young girls who are forced to marry boys or old men are often at risk of violence and sexual abuse. Inside this post you can find photos of child brides taken by Reuters’ photographers.
The blast caused by this 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck in Washington State was heard for many miles around. The eruption of Mount St. Helens happened 30 years ago, and it’s still remembered because it set off a huge landslide exposing the superheated core of the volcano. Entire forests were flattened by the blast’s pressure wave, 57 people died and the erupting ash was deposited across 11 states. Take a look at that horrible event that happened in 1980 after the jump.
I could never imagine that places for dead people would be so luxurious. But they really are, especially if you are in Malaysia. You can see the lobby of Nirvana Memorial Garden columbarium on the pictures. It is located in Singapore. All these people are visiting their dead relatives, whose remains are stored in the urns. Similar projects can be found in other Asian countries.
