It was announced yesterday that Miss Kate Middleton was to wed Prince William. That is wonderful and in this photo we see her engagement ring. The ring belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince Williams mother.
The princess was given this engagement ring by her own Prince Charles. She also had a matching necklace which I am guessing will be Miss Kate’s at some point as well. The ring itself is an 18 carat oval blue sapphire with a cluster of 14 small diamonds.
The happy couple became engaged in Kenya on holiday and plan on getting married next year. I guess Miss Kate wasn’t offended although wearing your fiancés mothers ring might be a bit emotional for them both. Prince William stated that this way his mother was still involved in the wedding although she is deceased.
