Lincoln Gets His Due
Abe is going from pennies to dollars as his face will be the one minted on the new $1.00 coins. It is shown that printing coins is more economical in the long run. A paper dollar bill is printed for 7 cents, but it has a life span of 21 months. The printed coins cost 16 cents to create, but they last 30 years. The problem is that no one likes using one dollar coins from vendors to vending machines. Think of all the re-tooling soda and snack vendors will be doing to accommodate the new Lincoln solid dollar.
