The indomitable actress that starred in such classics as “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “Suddenly, Last Summer” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” has passed away at the age of 79. Her legacy was long ago cemented into American history with not only her powerful big screen portrayals but also her resolute AIDS activism. Taylor personified the compassionate celebrity that could use their fame to shed light on important issues, such as the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. Her private life was often splashed across the headlines following numerous youthful love affairs, marriages and divorces, but she still remained the beautiful and proud American icon we all loved.
