The guy was walking around with a 70cm blade. It's not as if he was walkin' around minding his own business. He stabbed two security guards to death and injured another. The guy was mentally deranged! He deserved a good beating.

I agree with oddbal - outlaw all knives.

Once knives are outlawed we won't have this problem of drive by knifings.
