38 year old Mark Hill is a surf instructor to disabled and disadvantaged kids in his community. Sadly, being an overall nice guy did not stop people from taking advantage of him when he needed help himself.
At Towan Beach in Newquay, Mark and his Land Rover and trailer became trapped by crowds of holidaymakers blocking the road to town. When Mark saw that the tide was coming in, he was forced to unhitch his trailer, which was then washed out to sea within minutes. He swam out to the trailer in order to stay with it until it could be towed to shore but once back on dry land, he was shocked to find that over $3100 worth of wetsuits, tools and surfboards had been stolen from the Land Rover that had also been trapped by the tide overnight. Mark believes that the thieves, who snorkeled to the car at night, were not locals but they have not been caught.
