She moved in with his family and nursed him back to physical health. Sadly, Ian suffered permanent brain damage from his accident and lost all ability to make his own decisions. Larissa, did not let this stand in her way and she was still determined to marry Ian as originally planned. When Ian was physically better, she got a judge to approve their marriage meaning that she could finally marry the man of her dreams. Although Ian will never fully recover, the couple are still as much in love as ever.

It might be possible to reverse brain damage in the foreseeable future. No one ever knows.

None of you posting comments here know what it's really like to live with someone who's been born normal, suffered a tragic accident, and been undergoing ongoing Rehab w/OT and PT for years with someone you love. I suggest you think before you click "like".

he can obviously communicate with her in some way and most likely return her love, affection and gratitude. so that's something special.
also, given the miracle of neural plasticity, brain damage is not necessarily permanent. he will likely slowly recover functionality, although where that will leave him is unclear. life keeps challenging us to be adaptable.
