Disney's Take on Snow Simulation

For their latest movie 'Frozen', Disney has created a snow simulator to improve realism and ease the work, it's simply stunning.

sorry, but at this point in time, with all the easy computing power, if they didn't have mind-blowingly realistic snow then my... mind would be blown.

i did find the artificial voice very interesting, though. i mean, unlike stuff i've heard before, it seems to integrate sampling from a real person's voice. pretty cool. it just runs too fast for some reason.

All the "snow" in this video looks wet, like it does under mild conditions. The trailer for "Frozen" shows a typical very cold landscape. In those conditions the snow is fluffy and more like powder. Fail!
Anyway, the Disney team went to Norway to find inspiration for this movie, It's easy to see.

Well, I suppose they could combine these effects with the liquid physics to make a realistic melting effect.
