I think you can see how outrageous some of these costs are. Such as the Recovery Room that I was in for maybe two hours. Or the Room and Board that I had for one night. Or maybe the $4,500 worth of anesthesia they supposedly used on me.

His dad must have absolute shit for insurance. 11k is well over the maximum out of pocket for even a semi-crappy insurance plan. Sounds like he gambled and lost.

This operation would be "free" in the UK and many other, so called, developed countries; paid for by general taxation.
Isn't that the way it ought to be in the USA?

My grandma had a complete stomach removal due to cancer and had spent an entire month at the hospital. It cost us just over 600€

the life is priceless...thats why is supposed you don't need money to be alive.
Here in Mexico we have free health care "seguro popular"not the best health care cover but at least my aunt got a surgery like this for free.
I think this pricing on health is just making money with suffering.

Appendicitis is the most simple operation that can be done.
It should not cost more than $6k.
Its free in my country.
