And never showing up to someone’s house without a gift in hand.
It can be a dessert or a wine if it’s dinner, or it can be chocolates or flowers (so long as it’s not an even number of them). It’s not really important what it is, as long as you bring something.

It is not exactly great love for each other and being devoted to traditions that make few generations of the family live together! It is simply the impossibility of moving out - apartments, moreover houses, are very expensive, the interest on loans is far from what you are used to, not to mention the salary is a lot - and I mean A LOT lower.
And I don't think that anyone has really been keeping plastic bags now, that they have been available for the last 20 years. And yes, it is not only about Russia, it's about Ukraine as well. Not to mention many things were obviously left out :)
