I have to mention that this is SOUTH Korea.
In NORTH Korea, the riot control is handled just a *little* differently and it involves lots of automatic weapons, hand grenades, then bulldozers to move the bodies of the protesters into mass graves.

With the odds in favour of the riot police. In most situations the rioters would out number police initially. In this situation I might meet the crowd with the first rows then divide them with the reservesthen divide again and so on until each smaller group were manageable. How ever the rioters may well have primitive weapons such as petrol bombs bricks fireworks etc so thes tactics don't really demonstrate success IMO.
