Guy Slips into Race with Girlfriend's VW Polo

This happened last Saturday on England's Brands Hatch circuit during the middle of the race. This 21-year-old reckless idiot did it all in the name of YOLO and as you will see, his girlfriend screamed in horror and begged him not do it.

He may have to pay up to around $175.000 (26 teams at an average cost per team of around $6.800).

that 175.000 is just stupid, he's not member of race association or whatever does these events (and made their inner rules how they use the track), he can be punished only by civil or traffic law not some third party contracts what where made without his involvement.

no, you're forgetting damages caused by his behavior. as in, those cars, crew, gas, etc are all expensive things... lost time alone means a lot of lost money.

anyway i don't get this YOLO thing-- like, if you only live once, then why do something incredibly stupid to make the rest of your life that much crappier?

it doesn't work that way. all these damages need to be proven and then it is civil case (just like neighbor sues other neighbor for ruining their grilling party), i doubt they sue him because this dude doesn't have money anyways, if he drives girlfriends car.
