i doubt they really expected it to taste much different. wine must be stored at controlled conditions to remain potable.

I bet it tasted like vinegar.
This bottle of wine was found on board a ship that has sunk in 1864 during the American Civil War. The wine, which is a collector’s item for the wealthy elite, was recently opened for a tasting at the festival of food in South Carolina and it was not what you would expect.
