Fan Fugui is a father of a one-year-old child, which was diagnosed with an optic nerve atrophy. Without an operation the child will go blind soon. So the father of a poor family decided to act desperately – he went out in the center of Beijing in just his underwear with a bamboo cane and a poster which read “Hit me to save my son”. He asked for 10 yuan (approximately 1,5$) for a hit. People give Fan money without anyone hitting him. After his story appeared in Chinese media, he was able to gather a half of 100 000 yuan (14600$) sum, which is enough to hospitalize the child, but he's still sitting there to get the rest of the sum. Now that’s an act of self-sacrifice!
