American Psycho(2000)

Years before it was a controversial movie, it was a controversial book. Author Bret Easton Ellis even received multiple death threats as a result of his story. The movie adaptation is often called a satire of the original novel, so maybe this is the reason the MPAA initially gave it a rating of NC-17 based only on Patrick Bateman’s threesome with two prostitutes. The scene was cut down by 18 seconds, and all of the violence was allowed to remain.
