Time-delay Pencils

Circa 1943-1945

Issued by the US Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WWII, this gadget was designed to look like a pack of pencils, but was actually a time-delay incendiary device, which allowed the operator to get to safety.

The pen(cil) is mightier than the sword in this case.
