In 2005, Benedict and two of his friends were kidnapped in South Africa. Six armed criminals approached his car, bound the men inside it, and drove away. But the criminals threw their prisoners away soon after. A stranger found them on a road and helped. Benedict recalls, “I looked into this man’s face, and I cried with gratitude. It really, really enriches your values in life.”
