Ranker.com users have voted for legendary movies that need sequels, and Hollywood has to see this list.
18) Dredd
This one fucking needs a sequel asap. It’s a shame that didn’t do well at the box office because it was a stellar movie. I need to see more Karl Urban kicking ass with a scowl. Hopefully those rumours about a streaming series are true.
17) ET the Extra-Terrestrial
People have been asking Spielberg for a sequel to this my entire life. He actually did write one, but it was too dark. Maybe now, he’s softened up enough to maybe have ET come back to help an adult Elliot with something? Or maybe Gertie needs help. Drew Barrymore can use the work.
16) Bridesmaids
Personally, I think this was lighting a bottle, and a sequel wouldn’t live up to expectations (much like The Hangover sequels. But, I’d be curious to see what they’d come up with.
15) Office Space
Not sure where a sequel could go, but it’d be nice to catch up with the gang from Initech and see if Milton is any less insane.
14) District 9
Given how this one ended, a sequel must be in the cards. Neill Blomkamp has shared the intel that he’s got an idea for the sequel, but no details on when it’ll happen, or if.
13) Serenity
Given that Firefly only lasted a season, and the film barely got made, there aren’t very high hopes for a sequel. But guaranteed, fans would flock to the box office, if there was one.
12) Hancock
The first one was a refreshing take on the superhero genre. Let’s see what else Hancock and Mary can do.
11) The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
There’s a whole franchise built around the Douglas Adam’s book, so why not milk it for more material?
10) Inside Out
Riley’s got a lot more growing up to do, so it’d be pretty cool to follow her emotions as she goes through puberty and her teens, not to mention adulting.
9) Galaxy Quest
Admittedly, this won’t be the same without Alan Rickman, but a sequel to this insane comedy has been thrown around with a “next generation” sort of vibe.
8) Zootopia
After building such a rich world, we definitely want to see more of these guys.
7) The Nightmare Before Christmas
This Halloween/Holiday classic needs to be continued. There was a pseudo-sequel in video game form, but that doesn’t count. We need more Jack Skellington.
6) Hocus Pocus
Not sure if I agree that this needs a sequel, but it’s my list and apparently some want to see the Sanderson sisters return.
5) The Fifth Element
While it was met with mixed feelings when it hit the box office, it’s become a cult classic over time. Now, we all want to know what happened with Dallas and LeeLoo after the previous one.
4) Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
I know for a fact that a third one won’t happen. Guillermo Del Toro has moved on, and a reboot is about to hit theatres.
But goddamn it, GDT’s version requires a trilogy, and he was saving the best or last. Here’s hoping the reboot fails and he gets his chance.
3) The Goonies
This childhood favourite needs a sequel, with the kids of the OG Goonies going on an adventure and dragging their parents into it. Sean Astin is interested.
2) Spaceballs
If they can keep on churning out Star Wars sequels, they can do one for this. As of 2017, there are rumours, but without John Candy, it’ll be bittersweet.
1) Beetlejuice
There’s rumours that a sequel is being written, but what’s so hard about giving us more of the “ghost with the most?”
