Tom Holland experienced hydration and vision problems in his Spiderman suit.

Tom Holland was the latest Spiderman. Even though this role was the milestone of his career and he recognizes that, he also admitted in an interview that he really struggled in his costume. “The suit’s not the greatest thing,” the actor said, “wearing it is so unbelievably uncomfortable.”

He also revealed later on that he only wears a thong underneath his costume, which makes him feel really uncomfortable. But his biggest problem was staying hydrated. Since his mask doesn’t have a mouth, they had to add a plastic tube through a hole in the eye socket to supply Holland with water. He said that he felt “like a big thirsty plant.”

Paul Bettany couldn’t really hear when playing Vision.

Paul Bettany has played in many action movies in the past, but in his role as Vision in the Avengers: Age of Ultron he had to get his power from the Mind Stone in his head.

“It’s pretty painful, it’s uncomfortable,” Paul Bettany said about his Joss Whedon’s costume. Even though he felt really lucky about getting this huge acting opportunity, he admitted in the same interview that working in this costume for 10 hours straight for weeks and not really being able to hear well was really tough. “There’s only this much of your face open to the air,” he added.

Robert Downey Jr. felt kinda claustrophobic in the Iron Man suit.

There’s probably not a cinephile around the globe who doesn’t know Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr. has played a lot of different roles, but he’s most well-known for Iron Man. He truly looks like he’s into wearing his armor, but he confides that even though he’s not usually claustrophobic, he cannot stand being in his costume for too long.

“I’m not claustrophobic, but after moving around in it for a couple of hours, your spirit is kind of broken and you’re like, ’Okay, time to bring in the stunt team.’” he says.

Scarlett Johansson was sweaty and itchy dressed as Black Widow.

Black Widow is a fan-favorite Avengers character. Scarlett Johansson, who played the role, revealed that even if she loved this role, her costume was a whole different story. Her black body suit might look amazing, but it was super-hot and extra tight.

She was so uncomfortably squished into this costume that she compared to a wet suit and so sweaty, it was “like wearing sweaty pajamas,” she said.

Margot Robbie couldn’t even enjoy a burger in her tight shorts.

Margot Robbie was super hot in her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. However, she feels strongly about her tight clothing and her hot pants. We might think that Quinn loves them “because they’re sparkly and fun” but she doesn’t.

“The sacrifice I have to make is that I have to do this nudity thing that I don’t really want to do,” said Margot during an interview. But it’s not only that the costume is revealing and erotic, it’s also that she can’t even enjoy lunchtime burgers since afterward she is “hosed down and soaking wet in a white T-shirt” that’s clingy.

Chadwick Boseman felt suffocated in his Black Panther suit.

Black Panther was one of Marvel’s latest hits. But before that T’Challa, aka Black Panther, starred in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Even though the protagonist, Chadwick Boseman, looked really amazing in his black suit, the struggle was real for him since he was really anxious about running out of air in his costume.

As he said in an interview “it is not breathable” especially during the hot days. And he really had to work on it and be patient to shoot the whole movie.

Ron Perlman doesn’t want to go through a makeup process like Hellboy’s ever again.

Ron Perlman got really tired of the hours long makeup process he had to endure while shooting Hellboy. His makeup artist was Jake Garber and did a really good job with all the prosthetics for his chest and the back of Perlman’s head.

Perlman admits that even though he never wants to sit on a makeup chair like that ever again Hellboy’s character was “worth whatever pains one had to go through to play him.”

Rebecca Romijn couldn’t stand the nudity of the Mystique costume.

Rebecca Romijn played Mystique in X2: X-Men United. She looks undeniably stunning covered in blue, however, she didn’t feel the same way about her suit. As she admits during an interview she was in denial about the nudity. She couldn’t stand that her most sensitive body parts were just covered with prosthetic pieces.

“I kept checking with the rest of the cast, saying, ’You guys, I’m totally covered up, right?’ And they’d tell me, ’No, Rebecca, you’re naked,’” she recalls. When she was literally too freaked out about it, director Bryan Singer brought her some white wine in order to help her relax and go on shooting the movie.

Carrie Fisher was not even close to liking her metal bikini.

Princess Leia in a metal bikini that kept her enslaved with a chain in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is undeniably one of the most memorable scenes in the whole series. The outfit was a subject of discussion for years about sexism and the sexual objectification of the only female star of the show. Carrie Fisher herself didn’t like it. She felt “nearly naked, which is not a style choice for me. It wasn’t my choice.”

Aside from the reasons above, it wouldn’t stay in one place and she couldn’t move without risking having her breasts revealed. She even tweeted about it decades later: “That chain only ‘enslaved’ me until I could use the delightful thing to KILL THAT DROOLING SWOLLEN SUPERTONGUED SLUG & whirl him off into infinity.”

George Clooney felt embarrassed about the nipples on his Batman suit.

According to the critics and the sales, Batman & Robin, starring George Clooney as Batman, was not a huge Hollywood success. Clooney admitted that he felt really embarrassed about wearing a really tight costume with nipples designed on it.

“Well, I wasn’t thrilled with the nipples on the batsuit,” he wrote in a thread on Reddit, “Batman was just constantly cold I guess.” It might have been the disappointing costume that caused the disaster, but it could’ve been a bunch of other things too.

Oscar Isaac could barely move and breathe in his Apocalypse armor.

Oscar Isaac was completely unrecognizable in his Apocalypse costume during X-Men: Apocalypse. His suit wasn’t just extremely heavy, but all of the prosthetics and the makeup he had on made it an excruciating experience.

Isaac shared, during an interview, that his most frustrating moments during filming were when he desperately needed to cool down. He used to go in a tent with air condition between the scenes in order to get himself straight mentally. “I would do some acting and then go to my tent and try to breathe and not freak out that sweat was pouring into my ears and I couldn’t touch them. It was rough,” he admitted.

Michelle Pfeiffer was nearly choking in her Catwoman mask.

Batman Returns was really different than the original series back in the 80s. Catwoman, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, made the movie cooler with her shiny black leather costume. And even though she looked undoubtedly beautiful, Pfeiffer had quite an unpleasant experience in this costume.

Years later, she admits that it was the most uncomfortable costume she has ever had to wear, noting that it was so tight that the crew “had to powder me down, help me inside, and vacuum-pack the suit.” The most discomfort though was coming from her mask that felt like it was choking her and smashing her face.

Michael Chiklis felt a great physical discomfort as The Thing.

The man of rock, Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, played by Michael Chiklis was one of Marvel’s characters in the Fantastic Four movies. The costume was heavy and caused Chiklis immense physical discomfort that soon grew to be a distraction for him.

During an interview, he said that he liked the movie, but his costume “was the worst part of it, obviously.” Even though he had a rather rough experience, he said that it was worth it.

Malin Akerman felt pain when moving in the Silk Spectre suit.

Malin Akerman looks absolutely stunning in her yellow and black latex suit as Silk Spectre in Watchmen. She didn’t feel that way while filming though. Shooting in this costume made her feel extremely uncomfortable, especially because of the smell of it.

“It’s like putting a condom over your whole body,” she said and she shares that it was so tight that when she tried to bend her arms and knees she would experience pain. Not only did I not enjoy it but I didn’t even think about keeping it afterward, “you couldn’t pay me enough money to keep that costume.”

Catwoman’s suit was a psychological terrorist for Anne Hathaway.

Anne Hathaway also had the chance to play Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s movie The Dark Knight Rises. Her bodysuit fits her perfectly and she looks stunning indeed. However, as most of the actresses who’ve played the same role have claimed, the costume was really uncomfortable to film in.

Hathaway described it as “a psychological terrorist.” Her biggest struggle was to actually fit into it. She said that she completely changed her life to be in that suit; “It dominated my year. I went into the gym for 10 months and didn’t come out,” she said in the same interview.

Jennifer Lawrence couldn’t stand the fumes and toxins of Mystique’s costume.

Long before she became a star for her role in The Hunger Games series, Jennifer Lawrence played Mystique in the X-Men prequel X-Men: First Class, a role she reprised in X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. Her incredible appearance took a whole 7 hours to be completed.

Her concern was basically about the toxic fumes of so much body paint and the long hours of makeup. She specifically said during an interview “I can’t even pronounce this and that’s going in my nose? I’m breathing that?” Luckily the makeup time was already reduced to 7 from the 9 hours Rebecca Romijn had to undergo.
