Answering for my dad because he passed away earlier this year and I treasure this memory:

Before any road trips we’d tell mom we weren’t really hungry and just have a piece of fruit for breakfast before heading off… to a diner half an hour away for a giant plate of steak, eggs and hashbrowns.
