Go `murica! (not!)
That was 4 days before, and 7 days after birth, just to clarify.
Problem with the US is taxpayer funded healthcare (nothing is free) is given to people who can but refuse to work, and people who came here illegally. That's only part of the problem. No PC here just facts most don't want to hear.
Clo, No one said it was free. But Norway's healthcare is about a third less per person than the US. Any no one goes bankrupt because the cost per person is fixed, and far less than the cost in the US. The US system is not only stupidly expensive, it grossly inefficient.
Athy, the bill is likely paid for by insurance, free healthcare, or state programs. Nobody goes bankrupt in the US for having a baby. Also, the welfare system provides money for each child in a household. That’s why some people are just career baby makers, having them well into their 40s to keep that payment coming.
A big issue in the US with healthcare isn’t getting an existing bill paid or supplemented, it’s being refused care for major health problems. People die from treatable ailments because they can’t afford specialty doctors or inflated medication prices. Among lots of other problems, but that’s a big one. We desperately need a working universal healthcare system.
Eleanor,In 2006 least 7 percent of bankruptcies in the US were due to childbirth. And the numbers have not been going down. A big issue with US healthcare is that it is the leading cause of bankruptcy. You can pretend it isn't, but it is.
Also the amount of the bill is extremly high. Healthcare in the US is much more expensive than in other countries with comparable (or even better) service. One reason is the very high costs for "legal protection" because the extrem costs of legal cases and lawyers
I found this bill on Pinterest and I don't know its relevance? But in my country, Denmark we have a (tax-paid-for) Free Public Health Insurance that cowers all but some medicine for most people, and I find this much more assuring than having to buy dubious insurances for a high price!
#62 All of the facts are true, the soviets called him "White death". In finnland he was after the war a honored peacefull man and hero. Many of finnland people wished him to be president.
I don't see the bill for the obstetrician that actually performed the delivery.. was that billed separately? did the mother get an epidural? I don't see an anesthesiologist listed either...

I agree, Norwegians are pretty darn worthless.

In Hungary, all medical care is free, if you pay the tax.
Childbirth for us cost only a few tips to the staff

I disagree - that's a great start for the Na'vi cosplay!
