A somewhat dangerous action (depending on depth), decompressing too fast can be lethal. He should have used the second regulator to generate a blast of air, most sharks are scared away from that type of action. Shark repellent is the obvious choice. (He should have a dive buddy too, and always keep calm, to panic is to die)

A dive to remember. But...Regulator? Decompression? The diver was spearfishing (like free-diving but with a camo suit and speargun) at a moderate depth. No SCUBA or being at depth for prolonged times, so no gas absorption/decompression issues. The risk in this situation was getting tangled in the line. And why did the diver spear a dead fish?
