How to make trash from trash

When I was a kid, I looked through a lot of craft books because they were clever and interesting. I admired those ideas, yet I could never get into replicating those crafts. My main stumbling block was realizing that I'd have to make several attempts of each to get good at making them, but then, what do I do with all of the finished products? My family's apartment was small and didn't need more frivolous stuff. Do I foist them on relatives who would most likely just toss them because, frankly, I would. So sadly, I had to conclude that they were a waste of time for me.
