#36 Now I heard there was a very interesting top secret military radar installation next to Chernobyl called the Duga, anybody know anything about that?
#53 my hero!
Duga (Russian: Дуга́, literally "arc" or "curve") was a Soviet over-the-horizon radar (OTH) system used as part of the Soviet missile defense early-warning radar network. The system operated from July 1976 to December 1989. Two operational Duga radars were deployed, one near Chernobyl and Chernihiv in the Ukrainian SSR (present-day Ukraine), the other in eastern Siberia.
Nice! Thanks for the fast reply, I was hoping it would be a wikipedia copy and paste. I thought maybe just maybe there might be more here than meets the eye. Interesting how none of the Soviet Union's dirty secrets were reveled after its controlled demolition. But hey at least we got the state sponsored piece of propaganda that was the Chernobyl miniseries by Mazin (a Princeton man;)! Gotta wonder how interesting things would get if Russia started spilling all the dirt they had on the Americans and vice versa eh? Good times…
Ignorance is bliss. When you dont understand something but you want everyone to understand it you just call 'em dumb. It is much easier than explain stg.
