Obviously no one should impose their lifestyle on someone else. But let's be honest here. He obviously was lying to her. He obviously told her he was committed to be a vegan. Something that was important to her. It doesn't matter if you think being a vegan is nonsense or not. Think of something you think is abhorrent to you and then finding out your boy or girlfriend actually loves that.
He should have just been honest, told her outright he didn't care about veganism, and let the chips fall where they may instead of being a coward.

Apparently she's the only one who is allowed to exercise her free will by imposing her false worldview on him.

He literally said he became vegan just to impress her. He’s part of the problem for pretending to be some he’s not, and then not even being honest when he didn’t want to do it anymore. He led her to believe he wanted the same things, so of course she’s shocked that he’d been lying for weeks. Guys do this. They pretend to be someone they aren’t, but can’t keep up the sham forever. Just be honest from the beginning. My father did this with religion to my stepmother. Then a few years later didn’t want to go to church anymore, went back to the drunk hillbilly he always was, and she just kept saying “he’s changed”. When in reality he was lying to her for years. Why? I’ll never understand this.
