Garou learned to play the guitar at the age of 3. During his service in the army, he founded a band called Untouchables. In 1997, Luc Plamondon happened to visit one of their performances. He invited the young man to play the role of Quasimodo in the Notre-Dame de Paris musical, which brought Garou fame — first, in France and then around the entire world.
