it's hard to believe that it's pure fun for her to practise soo hard and that there isn't a tremendous amount of pressure put on them by their parents.

Pinckney, there are places in China that take the children away from their parents and the children are raised in these "camps" only to see their parents a few weeks a year.

Pinckney,
I think that happens to kids all over the world in sports or with kids having to play music instruments, or study in schools.

Stop promoting this chinese or korean sh#t. Such children are forced to train with physical- and/or psychological violence. Nothing "cool" about it. Just child abuse. vomit

All the other kids are like "Great, the instructor has a new standard we are all going to have to meet" - she can be a part of Cirque De Solae (?spell) when she gets older

I often visit China and have seen this personally, the Chinese people are disciplined from a very early age and competiveness is far beyond western standards. This is why China will rule the world one day. (Yes I do know this is the last thing a westerner want to hear, being one myself, but unless we in the western world shape up and toughen up, this is what will happen given time.)

Geraldine, no, they lack innovation. Rote learning can be somewhat useful but unless and until they have a generation of innovators they will always be followers and not leaders.

Allen,
Allen,
This.
Plus China's economy is heavily dependent on perpetual infrastructure mega-projects, which are funded by taking on debt.
The IMF has already urged China to reduce its reliance on debt-fuelled growth.

Sounds like Europe and the USA too. Everybody BORROWS money for big purchases. China just imitates everybody. Everybody said the same shit on the Japanese and the Koreans in the 1950s until the late 1980s. Eventually they surpassed most countries by mid 1990s. Is not only China, most Asian countries believe in discipline thru traditional culture. Plus those who were colonized by Western countries were 'heavily' disciplined to do whatever sh#t the colonial masters wanted them to do.
