You guys are both idiots, even if metric is the easier to convert system in my opinion, let the people use what they like, and sly: argue the point not the person
Sly, why are people outside the US so obsessed with us using the imperial system? Why do you all care so much? We don’t care how you measure things. There’s not a single post that mentions the imperial system that someone doesn’t make snide comments on. Get a life already.
Here are some facts you clearly don’t know:
1. Every college student in the US is also taught the metric system. Every person in a science field uses it interchangeably. Meaning we actually know both systems, and we don’t hold it against you for only knowing one.
2. We chose a different unit of measure to make trade difficult with England in preparation for declaring independence way back when. There’s a specific reason for it.
Ivy, Point 2. England (and the rest if the UK) didn't start accepting the metric system until 1973 when the treaty of accession to join the then European Economic Community (EEC, that later became the EU) was signed. Even then, use of metric units in all sales wasn't made mandatory till 2009 but we still drink by the pint, measure by the foot and speed by miles per hour
