#22 is not technically correct. The sediment layers formed about 350 million years ago, but it formed relatively quickly. The combined layers of the sea stack represent a period of tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of years, not millions. Still pretty cool, though.

#26 Math is NOT philosophy. Math is truth.

Kristen,

It is. All early mathematicians were philosophers. That's not a coincidence.

Kristen,

But this is a coincidence. The relation between philosophy and mathematics is not. There is a difference between correlation and causation. Philosophic questions lead to scientific discoveries. The whole modern research designs are based on epistemology discussed by philosophers. That's why it's so important to teach the humanities, not just science.

Philosophy is supposition that can be contradicted and disputed. Math is absolute and cannot.

Math is an explanation of universal absolutes, but due to the constructs of language can be variable in understanding. For example we tend to use a base 10 system, so 42 means something different than in a base 8 or base 12 system (32 and 50 repectiively) so Math descriptions are relative.

Oops, 42 in base 8 is 34.
