I love Tesla for how innovative they are. They are well in to testing Full Self Driving and what they’ve done so far is amazing. We are living in a time when personal transportation is undergoing a major change. The changes we’ll see over the next 20 years are going to be amazing and Tesla is leading the way but first they have to work with some tricky situations (for a computer) like this.

Elaine, I do not know why this comment is voted negative because these are just facts.

No other company would have done this in a similar way if Tesla wouldn't have. Although I would like a open source or at least open database for all of the self-driving and companies working together but either way will work out in the next few (!) years.

If electric vehicles were viable we would have been driving them for the last century. hence they are viable if you have an extra eight hours to charge before you go another couple hundred miles after a century of battery innovation.

Lotta,

Batteries have poor performance in extremely cold climates.

Lotta,

battery development has just seen some years. Almost nothing was done in the past 100 years. Compare this to the combustion engine which has way over 100 years to reach almost perfection. Imagine what will be done to batteries, solar, hydrogen etc in the next 10...20...100 years.

Basil,

I'm waiting for better batteries. In colder climates, when a heater is used in an electric vehicle for passenger comfort, the range of an electric vehicle is about 60% of the advertised range.

That's with new batteries. As the batteries get older, the range decreases.

I'd assume that using the AC would also have an effect on range.

How many electric cars do you see driving through 2 feet of water during heavy rains? What is the plan for scrapped batteries after they die?
