I remember, as a child, in my, the USA, it was much the same. Especially in the poorer neighborhoods where I grew up. Sadly those days are gone, but I have a difficult time giving up hope. The greed of the welfare generations have taken a toll.

A separate menu for pets in cafes and restaurants
In summer, restaurants offer a special menu for pets on their terraces. Apart from free water, there can be beverages, snacks, and even desserts for dogs.
