When I was a kid we had a black cat on our farm. He was an outdoor cat - he didn't want to be inside - he preferred to roam around our barns and our neighbors barns. He was such a sweet heart to us humans but both of his ears were cut in half from fighting with other cats. Loved that cat.
In some cultures, black cats are symbols of good luck. In Japan, owning a black cat is said to increase the number of suitors for a single woman, and in Germany, if one crosses your path from left to right good fortune is in your future.
