"For the first Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), our immediately recognizable lightsaber sound was discovered by mistake. While carrying a tape recorder with a broken mic cable where the shielding had come off, the sound was recorded as someone walked by a television. The sound is the electrical feedback from the television’s tube."
