Those bombings ended the war and saved hundreds of thousands of lives, so they were worth it.
Let's not forget that the US largely helped support and develop post WWII Japan into the hugely successful commercial nation that it is today. Just as we are somehow also giving the Taliban yet more money. Read the book Hiroshima it is a quick read, but quite horrifying. Let's not forget the Bataan Death March or the fact that so many Japanese were willing to die as long as they struck a blow for the Emperor.
