Brina, I have to agree. Cyclists have to basically stop at two hairpin turns, pedestrians have to climb a steep hill (lovely in the Dutch weather which is never slick underfoot). Most urban places in Holland have a separate walking and bike lane, usually with a curb and slight elevation change. Someone just got artsy here and people were foolish enough to build it that way.

it's a clever design:
Cyclists avoid a mountain, they don't mind driving 2 more bends if they stay on the same level.
Pedestrians avoid long detours, so they go over the high bridge.

The pedestrian path don't move.
