imagine, being in a social country !! the horror !!
crossing at intersection mean stopped traffic with red lights .. how is that worse than crossing in moving traffic between cars ?
There are noe traffic lights here in intersections....
But that is still where I usually cross the street....
this is exactly situation i have down the street where i live.... two pedestrian crosswalks at the most stupid location... busy crossroads with no traffic lights.... between them is simple two lane road... i cross between those crossroads... its safer and quicker, with better outlook both ways...
the roads are safe if everybody respect the rules and cross when they are safe to do so, the only way to be safer would be to remove any vehicles.
