Most of these items aren't intended for locals - they are intended to give Americans living abroad a selection of treats they are familiar with that they couldn't otherwise find. They aren't intended for daily meal consumption. We have the same thing here in the states.

I live in the USA and I have never seen half this stuff on any shelf in any state I have been through. A jar of hot dogs? Pizza made on a hamburger bun with hot dog slices??

All you need to make some home made, fresh and better mac and cheese is some pasta, milk, a little bit of flour, butter and cheese, and 20 minutes in a kitchen.... good
