James Spader was in "Pretty in Pink," "Wall Street," and "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" before Seinfeld even aired.
I could go on but hopefully you get the point. A lot of known actors appeared in TV shows as guest actors for the fun of it because they enjoyed watching the show.
